GOVERNOR CERILLES EXTENDS SUPPORTS FOR PROVINCE-PAID MENTORS

To continue helping teacher professionals who have never landed jobs in either private or public schools, Governor Cerilles renewed the contracts of teachers who are assigned in various municipalities in Zamboanga del Sur.

There are 106 mentors whose services are expected to contribute towards quality education and have renewed their contract -- that is, from January to March 2004. .Including the contract for June to December 2004, expected amount for all teacher is Php2,862,000,.

Cerilles revealed that she pities the many jobless teacher graduates, especially those who are eligibles.

“I have to renew the 106 province-paid teachers for this is one way of helping them earn a living and augment the insufficient numbers of teachers in far-flung barangays.Though these teachers only receive a very minimal amount -- P3,000 per month,but this is my most sincere help to them. Despite financial constraints, at least the administration has been able to respond to these teachers who are jobless,” Cerilles added.

Calculated wages for all the renewed teachers from January to March 2004 amounted to Php 954T.
