ACCOMPLISHMENTS BY FUNCTIONS/SERVICES
Livestock Development
(Provincial Veterinarian's Office)
The office supports and sustains the development
of the livestock industry in the province. The livestock development
industry includes increase animal production, upgrading the large
and small animals with use of artificial insemination, prevention
of diseases occurrence and control, regulate the shipping out of
potential breeders and control the entry of animals from possible
infested area and empower the livestock technicians and raisers
through organization and development.
a. On livestock Priority Disease Prevention and
Control Program
A total of 1,905 heads of dogs vaccinated against
rabies, treated 1,469 heads of large animals against Surra, vaccinated
9,604 heads of assorted large animals against Hemsep and dewormed
3,893 heads of large and small animals. The office accomplishment
for the four (4) top priority diseases is more than doubled the
target (255%). A total of 2,748 livestock farmers served.
b. Zamboanga del Sur Veterinary Mobile Clinic
The project conducted 47 mobile clinics to 24 municipalities
and one (1) city within the province. The activities involved were
free vaccination, deworming, preventive treatment and control of
diseases of animals.
c. Operation and Maintenance of Zamboanga del Sur
Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory
The laboratory services only implemented on the
first quarter of the months, due to minor defect of laboratory microscope.
The operation only involved fecal analysis, urine analysis and blood
examination.
d. Goat dispersal for Dairy and Monitoring of Animal
Dispersal Project
Two (2) multiplier farms were established in the
JH Cerilles State College of Mati, San Miguel and Western Mindanao
State University of Dapiwak, Dumingag.
e. Upgrading of Large Animals Through Artificial
Insemination
This is implemented in coordination of the Philippine
Carabao Center and Department of Agriculture RFU - IX.
f. Strengthening of Municipal Livestock Raisers
Association and Organization of Provincial Livestock Center
There were 26 municipalities livestock raisers
organized and one (1) Provincial Livestock Council. Conducted regular
meeting of Municipal Livestock Technician.
g. Livestock Development Program
This project includes purchase of veterinary medicines,
feeds, incubators, seeds and other related supplies for livestock
development. One poultry multiplier was established at Cabilinan,
Aurora, which is supplying feeds to farmer cooperators. It distributed
cockerels for breeding, dispersed 12 piglets and distributed two
(2) incubators.
